Training in Adult Psychoanalysis:

The training of Adult Psychoanalysts is the central function of the Psychoanalytic Institute. Psychoanalysts receive the most intensive training of all mental health professionals. Training includes a personal psychoanalysis, courses in theory and practice, and psychoanalyses of patients under supervision of senior analysts.

Training in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalysis:

The training of Child and Adult Psychoanalysts is the central function of the Psychoanalytic Institute. Psychoanalysts receive the most intensive training of all mental health professionals. Training includes a personal psychoanalysis, courses in theory and practice, and psychoanalyses of patients under supervision of senior analysts.

Training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy:

The Advanced Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (APP) Program attracts mental health professionals who enroll after graduate training and post-graduate clinical experience. They come to sharpen their clinical skills by acquiring a more advanced theoretical foundation and expert case supervision by Institute analysts. The two-year program is open to all mental health professionals: psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, psychiatric or hospice nurses, and pastoral or educational counselors. Alumni of this growing program are bringing the benefits of increased understanding and improved therapeutic skills to patients in agencies and institutions throughout the greater St. Louis area.
